The Bell 206 JetRanger – 5 seat turbine helicopter is one of the most widely recognised helicopters. Its iconic shape and sound make it a favourite amongst helicopter pilots and enthusiasts, despite it having been out of production since 2009. The helicopter has been and is still being used for a wide range of applications around the world.
Bell 206 JetRanger Versatility
The Bell 206 is equipped with a single turbine engine, 5 seats and a luggage compartment to the rear of the helicopter. Modifications and approvals have also been gained in the past by various helicopter operators for use in different activities such as aerial surveillance, public transport, pilot training and load lifting.
Bell 206 JetRanger Operating Performance
The engine installed on most B206 helicopters is the Allison 250 family, typically able to give up to 317 HP (derated from 420). The Bell 206 can normally (depending on calibration) achieve a cruise of 100 kts, and range extender tanks can be fitted to increase the amount of fuel carried and therefore distance travelled prior to refuel.
The Bell 206 has a service ceiling of 13,500ft, with a typical maximum range of up to 374nm. Fuel burn / consumption varies aircraft to aircraft but can typically be 26-28 usgph in the cruise.
